the kiss that welcomed 2011

I am for sure one of those people who says,

“today is just another day”

when speaking of the New Year.

I have actually only stayed up until midnight

on NYE a handful of times

in my entire life.

Today is just another regular day

that happens to have a new number at the end of the date.

But I will admit that all these pictures made me smile about this past year.

All the amazing times our family had together, with friends and family, on vacations, during celebrations, and a few awesome accomplishments.

On this regular day I am very thankful for this past year

and all the wonderful things that happened.

I am even excited for what this 2012 year has in store for us.

I’m especially thankful for the things that I have

that aren’t just about this past year, or the year to come.

But are pieces of my life that no matter what the date or season may be,

these pieces are what matter.

I’m thankful for a supportive, loving and hardworking husband.

I’m grateful for two children that are

healthy, loving, fun and creative.

I feel very blessed to have so many wonderful people

in our lives that give us so much support and love.

Great people that are so easy to be around and

a joy to truly share our lives with.

I’m grateful for our families and all the many ways

they show us love and support.

I am more then thankful to have been blessed with the home that we have.

I am of course thankful for the practical things like the security of Bryan's career and most specifically, the recent answered prayers of him switching to day shift.

Thank God for that!!

That alone was a huge blessing and made 2011 a great year.

I’m so grateful that we have kids who don't just get along

but who truly care for, and take care of one another.

I am prepared for it to change as people warn me it will,

but so far with each new year they have grown closer.

My hope for them is that they become true friends as they grow,

and that they support each other throughout their entire lives.

I love and am thankful for the wonderful city we live in and all the great character it has.  I’m thankful for the memories we've made here over our entire lifetimes.  I love that we can ride bikes with our kids and tell them stories of these same streets when we were kids their age!  I love this town, and I love the history, the people, all the great places, and even the crazy loud parrots that are in it.

Above all I am thankful for the grace giving savior our God is.

Thankful for all the many amazing things He has done for me and for this family.  I’m grateful for His constant voice that is always gently reminding me that His plan is greater than all the plans I try to come up with.  Thankful that even though I don’t always listen the first time, He doesn’t give up on me.

I hope that each of you can reflect on pictures or memories

of this past year and be thankful for all the great things that happened

and for the people that were with you during those great times.

goodbye 2011
